5G Temperature Monitor

  • Connect up to 32 Sensors to each unit
  • Live Temperature Readouts
  • Sends SMS, Makes Calls and Sends Emails
  • Trigger on Over & Under Temperature Events
  • 1-Wire Input for Multiple Sensors
  • 20 Free SMS & Calls per Month
  • 5-year Service Charge Interval
  • Includes SIM card

These diallers have access to the latest IoT networks (LTE-M and NB-IoT on Vodafone and O2) which are part of the 5G 3GPP specification being rolled out across the UK and Europe. We already have 98% coverage in the UK with the rollout completion expected at the end of 2024. Where there is no IoT coverage the device reverts to 2G on EE, Vodafone or O2.

  • Includes SIM Card
  • Each unit pinged every 4 minutes to check status
  • Credit never expires
  • No disconnection due to inactivity
  • Only pay for calls and SMS used
  • Text-to-Speech voice calls

Sensors

The 1-Wire input allows up to 32 sensors to be connected to each unit (supplied with 1x 1m temperature probe). Cable length can be up to 300m (we recommend 100m max. for multiple sensors).

A sensor is measured every 2s. If there is one sensor, the sensor will be read every 2s. If there are 2 sensors, each sensor will be read every 4s and so on.

Each sensor can have it's own name (on the Live Screen), unique message for over and under events, and unique over and under temperature thresholds. Each sensor can be configured to send SMS, make calls or send emails. Each user can choose which sensors they receive calls/messages from (unlimited users/recipients).

Service

Each unit has a SIM card which gives secure VPN access through a private network to the IoT-Portal.com. This gives a basic data connection to the portal without regular top-ups being required. The temperature of each sensor can be read via the Live Screen.

Emails from the portal are always free. Each month the free allowance of 20 SMS and 20 calls is renewed. If more SMS and calls are required (perhaps during testing) the device credit will be used. Each device comes with 50 SMS and calls (which never expire) and £5 credit along with the additional 20 free SMS/calls per month.

The service charge is £80 including VAT due every 5 years. The first 5 years are included in the purchase price of the dialler.

Fit and forget for 5 years hassle free service!

Logging

Over and under Events are logged in the standard portal log which includes who was contacted. Detailed temperature data can be logged for each sensor. Due to varying data demands we recommend contacting the portal at support@iot-portal.com for information about frequency and any charges if this optional data logging is required.

Additional Inputs

The TQ5 dialler also comes with 2x additional analogue/digital (for switches and relays) inputs. This can trigger the sending of SMS messages, email or Text-To-Speech calls. Input 3 is a counter input which can be scaled to suit user requirements (meter reading, cycle counting, frequency counting etc...).

The TQ5 includes 2x outputs (1x relay, 1x open collector transistor). These can be operated via the Live Screen, SMS/Call or when a sensor/input exceeds a set value.

The TR5 DIN Rail mount version includes 6 analogue inputs and 2 digital outputs (50V NO/NC/COM relay contacts) which can be operated via the Live Screen, via call/SMS or when a sensor/input exceeds a set value.

Setup

Setup is performed via https://iot-portal.com.  Access can be by phone or email. There is an installable Progressive Web App (PWA) which is ideal for staying connected with your phone.

Setup is ultra simple. Just scan the QR code to get to the Live Screen and start adding numbers!

If my dialler stops working how would I know?

The 5G IoT networks, particularly NB-IoT, offer connectivity deep underground and inside buildings. They work where mobile phones do not work. The network sends the data to the dialler 2048 times so the dialler can determine the data from the background noise where there is barely any received signal. This is how the 5G dialler achieves such high levels of sensitivity. The downside? It's a slower. Messages can have up to a 1.6-10s delay. 1 bar on your phone outdoors will give almost full signal on NB-IoT.

Where the signal is better the dialler will use the high speed Vodafone or O2 LTE-M network. Finally, where no 5G networks are available, the dialler will fall back to 2G.

It's worth noting we discontinued our 2G, 3G and 4G diallers because they're the wrong technology for dialler applications. Use a 5G dialler. It's the correct choice. There are no VoLTE or IMS issues with the iot-portal diallers.

All setup is done online using a PC or smart phone. Each messages can be fully customised using the online portal. Basic programming can also be performed by SMS.

Every 4 minutes the unit is contacted by our server to ensure it is functioning correctly. Any critical faults found are sent to the master user by SMS and email.

Can be programmed and controlled via SMS and email in addition to the PC/Smart Phone.

Outside of your allowance, calls and text messages are charged at a flat rate worldwide as follows:

Outgoing Charges

Calls: £0.10 per call

SMS: £0.10 per SMS

BulkUK* Calls and SMS £0.05

Email: Free £0.00

*The BulkUK service will call/message from up to 4 numbers so each call may not be from the same number. No conference calling available on BulkUK

Incoming Charges

SMS: £0.01 (Twilio numbers)

Can I use my own SIM? No this is not possible. We don't recommend using mobile phone SIM cards in alarm diallers. The networks provide the IoT bands for this purpose. The mobile phone bands and SIMs are for mobile phones.
